Grace Children’s Hospital Used for Food and Water Distribution

Life at Grace Children’s Hospital is settling into a new routine; every day, new and exciting progress is being made in helping the people of Haiti. The hospital bustles with activity, and has now become a central food distribution location. 1700 bags of rice will be distributed from the back yard of the eye clinic each day for 15 days, providing sustenance to those living in the Delmas area of Port-au-Prince.

Strict security measures overseen by the U.S. Military and Haitian police mean that the food will be distributed fairly and safely to the families who need it most. ICC Haiti has opened their doors to the neighborhood, working with USAID, World Relief and World Vision, among others, in food distribution efforts.

The U.S. Army and the Delmas town council have installed a water tank on the hospital grounds, providing clean water for patients as well as the community.

Short term medical teams from Texas and Germany, among others, have worked with the ICC Haiti staff to coordinate the best possible medical care for those injured and suffering physically or emotionally.  ICC Haiti staff have received food and water to take back to their own families, as well as counseling services from the hospital.
